Refuse the Abuse!

The current president is a diversionary tactic on the part of the hyper-rich. He plays dumb and creates outrage, while they gradually appropriate social welfare resources.

They keep us fixated on media shows that are either failed attempts at resistance (the Kavanagh hearings or the obstruction-of-justice investigation), or terrifying threats (the war with Iran or the arrest of "a million" immigrants by ICE). Each show makes the president and the forces he serves stronger by distracting and exhausting us, net effect to keep us off-balance and make us feel defeated.

This is nothing but deliberate abuse of the American people by the president and his friends. Both the media and the conservative churches have been hijacked and co opted. We ourselves are hijacked, and we abuse each other, when we obsessively write the name and spread the image, reposting the face in the belief that we’re resisting and making fun. Making ourselves puke, we only make him stronger.
Now there is the danger that a big impeachment effort in the House of Representatives will absorb everyone’s attention and help him keep his abusive image foremost in the media with little effort on his part. refusetheabuse fears that an impeachment effort too will fail, and in the meantime resource-appropriation by corporate forces will continue, draining money from wilderness protection, the social safety net, the pocketbooks of college students subjected to predatory lending practices, and on and on.

The impeachment effort will help him stay in everyone's face. Without it, he will have to get our attention by doing risky things that may hurt him. There's no doubt that he may get us into disastrous wars and cause more horrible suffering in immigrant communities, but we need to keep our composure and find consistent long-term resistance strategies.
refusetheabuse likes the voices of Nancy Pelosi and Robert Reich. Let’s not try to impeach—not worth the trouble; let’s not rely on stagy legal efforts to get rid of him, but have faith in the basic decency of the voters (if this faith is misplaced, all hope is gone).
refusetheabuse believes that we should not disseminates the image. How can it be a good idea to make each other look at terrifying and nauseating pictures of our greatest adversary? In the coming elections, if the opposing candidates talk about nothing but him, they will lose. Let’s support someone who has genuine positive energy—Elizabeth Warren. A genuinely likable candidate will win. "Electability" is bunk.
Let’s stop abusing ourselves and each other by watching the media show.
Let’s REFUSE THE ABUSE!
